Delivery from Ukraine to Canada and the USA

  • Meest Corporation Inc. delivers letters, important documents, parcels and goods from Ukraine to Canada and the USA.
  • Letters, packages and goods are sent from Ukraine once a week.
  • Customers in Canada and the U.S. can arrange for pick-up of packages from any address in Ukraine with a lead time of up to 5 days for pick-up.
  • Parcels can weigh up to 30 kg (66 lbs). According to Ukrainian law, parcel value cannot exceed Euro 150 or US$157. Duty free value of goods to Canada - $20.
  • Payment for shipping is completed in Ukraine.  Payment can also be made in Canada or the U.S. by pre-order only.
  • We offer our customers several delivery options for parcels forwarded on to other destinations within the U.S. or Canada; delivery methods will be coordinated with the recipient. Parcels can be delivered to specific address via  UPS or FedEx only at an additional charge. 
  • There may also be surcharges for in Canada or the U.S. for:

-  customs clearance, customs duties, taxes, etc. (recipient country customs will determine the amount);

-  delivery to the addressee;

-  if the customer picks a parcel up in person from the central office they only pay for customs clearance.

  • the sender in Ukraine CANNOT pay the full cost of shipping and customs clearance as the amount of customs duty is calculated by the customs office of the destination country.
  • Employees of JV Rosan and/or Meest are not responsible for damage to items mailed if they are poorly packaged by the sender.

 

The following items are prohibited from shipping:

- firearms and ammunition, sharp weapons, and other items specially designed for attack and defense (brass knuckles, stilettos, cans with liquid nerve agent, etc.), explosives, flammable and other dangerous substances, military equipment;

gas lighters and aerosol products;

-  narcotics, psychotropic substances and their analogs;

-  items of indecent or immoral content;

- permits for the right to bear arms, employment records, military IDs, passports and other identification documents;

- products whose export violates intellectual property rights;

- items considered the national, historic or cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people as stipulated under Ukrainian law;

- items made from or containing gold, silver or other precious metals;

seeds and planting materials; food products of animal origin without thermal treatment;

- any untreated wood products;

- food items: only candy and chocolates can be sent to Canada, and absolutely no food items to USA;

 

- any medications, dietary supplements and sports nutrition products are prohibited from shipping;

cigarettes and alcohol prohibited to send to the USA and Canada

telephones (return to shipper) – up to 3 units per recipient in one shipment.

Transfer of cultural valuables

Export, temporary export, including forwarding, of cultural valuables (paintings, musical instruments, dishware and other implements made before 1950) outside the customs territory of Ukraine requires an export certificate.  The State Control Department, or entity authorized by the State Control Department for a certain service area in the following cities, will issue the certificate:

The price (not exceeding EUR200/US$230) must be indicated in the certificate along with the note “This item is not of cultural value and may be shipped by international mail.”  The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of its issue. Only licensed audio and video products with holograms and an audio-video quality control certificate may be shipped.

When sending multiples of a particular type of good  (books, souvenirs, new clothing or shoes in large quantities) the sender should provide a bill of lading listing the number of items and their value (not exceeding EUR150/US$160 per international postal shipment) and indicating the type of books being sent –  children’s, art, textbooks, technical literature, historical literature, etc.

International postal shipments are presented by service operators for customs control when crossing the customs border of Ukraine. Customs authorities have the right to remove items, on the terms provided for under Ukrainian law, which are legally prohibited from being sent by international mail or which are sent in violation of Ukrainian customs law.
